Core Charge Policy

A core charge is a fully refundable deposit — send us your old rebuildable part and you get every dollar back. Here's exactly how cores work, what qualifies, and how fast your refund lands.

01 What Is a Core Charge?

A core charge is a fully refundable deposit added when you buy a remanufactured part. It works like the deposit on a returnable bottle: you pay it up front, send us your old "core" (the worn part you're replacing), and we refund the deposit in full once it's inspected.

The core charge exists because reman parts start life as a used casting. Your old part becomes the next customer's reman core — so getting it back keeps quality parts in circulation and keeps your price down.

You'll see core charges on items such as:

  • Cylinder heads & loaded heads
  • Fuel injectors
  • Turbochargers
  • Water pumps
  • Complete & long-block engine assemblies
Always refundableThe core charge is listed separately on the product page and your invoice — it is never part of the part price. Return a qualifying core and you get 100% of the deposit back.

02 How the Core Process Works

1
Core charge added to your order
The refundable deposit shows as its own line item — separate from the part price.
2
Return your old part within 60 days
Send back the matching used core within 60 days of receiving your new part.
3
We inspect it
We confirm it's the right casting, complete and rebuildable.
4
Full refund issued
Your core deposit is credited back to your original payment method — every dollar.

03 A Real Example

Say you order a JAK's remanufactured injector listed at $1,000 with a $400 core charge. Here's what you pay — and what comes back when your old injector arrives:

At Checkout
Reman injector$1,000.00
Refundable core deposit$400.00
You pay today$1,400.00
After Your Core Returns
Core inspected & approved✓ Passed
Core deposit refunded+ $400.00
Net cost of the injector$1,000.00
Bottom lineThe core charge is money you get back. Your real cost is just the price of the part — provided your old core qualifies.

04 Core Return Requirements

To receive a full core refund, your returned part must be:

  • The same part number or an approved equivalent as the part you purchased
  • Complete and rebuildable — no cracked blocks, burned valves, or missing major components
  • Drained of all fluids and packaged securely to survive return freight
  • Shipped with your order number inside the package so we can match it to your account

Cores that are the wrong casting, cracked beyond repair, or missing major components may receive a reduced credit or be declined. Either way, we'll always reach out and talk it through before adjusting your refund — no surprises.

Pack it like it shippedProtect machined and sealing surfaces, drain oil and coolant, and reuse the crate or box your new part came in. A damaged-in-transit core can lower your refund.

05 How to Return Your Core

Two easy ways to get your core moving — both handled by a real diesel specialist:

On qualifying orders we provide a prepaid return label — drop the core with the carrier and you're done. Be sure your order number is inside the box so we can credit the right account the moment it lands.

Need a label?Just ask when you reach out. We'll email a prepaid return label for qualifying orders so the core costs you nothing to send back.

06 Refund Timeline

Once your core reaches our dock, here's what to expect:

StageTiming
Inspection after we receive your core3–5 business days
Refund posts to your statement5–10 business days after approval
Refund methodCredited to your original payment method
Core return windowWithin 60 days of receiving your new part

Exact posting time depends on your bank or card issuer. If it's been longer than the window above, call us and we'll track it down personally.

07 Handled Personally

This is where we're different. Your core isn't fed into an automated returns portal or a bin no one checks. A real diesel specialist receives it, inspects it, and processes your refund.

Our promiseNo automated systems, no confusion — every core return is handled personally. If there's ever a question about your core, you'll talk to the person who has it in their hands.
